Scholarship Program

The Central Blair Recreation & Park Commission is made up of the City of Altoona, Logan Township and the Altoona Area School District.  The cooperative effort has been developed to better utilize community facilities and resources.  An intergovernmental agreement has been adopted to finance the Central Blair Recreation and Park Commission.  The Commission represents the longest existing Commission created by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources in the Commonwealth.

Most low/moderate income families could not participate in CBRC activities, programs, and events without a scholarship funding source being provided for them. Scholarship money increases program numbers and gives children an opportunity to participate. CBRC feels that recreation at any level gives the participant a positive outlook on life. Socialization through recreation and parks in our community is very important for the development of our youth.  The strong influences that coaches or instructors have can make their quality of life better.  Our programs are designed to give the participants structure, purpose and discipline. By keeping children busy with activities, events, and programs we, as a community, will help prevent crime in the city.
